Charts and graphs can really help the audience understand data inside in your PowerPoint presentation. It's easier to show data with a single well-constructed chart than to just overwhelm the audience with raw data. In this tutorial you'll learn how to make a chart in PowerPoint by editing PowerPoint chart templates.

How to Quickly Edit PowerPoint Chart Template Designs

1. Open a PowerPoint Chart template

I've got a PowerPoint chart open in a template here. Let's get started by right-clicking on the chart and choosing Edit Data from the drop-down menu.

2. Open Excel Data View

Now you'll have an embedded Excel data sheet view where you can customize the data. Simply type over any of these numbers in the table to update it with your own data.

3. Change PowerPoint Charts Data

Now as I update the data in this Excel data sheet view the PowerPoint creative charts will react in real-time to include the data that you're adjusting in the table. This chart will resize and adjust with the updated information that you're putting into the sheet.

You can also adjust the text and headers on this chart to see that updated in the chart itself. Let's say that I wanted to totally drop one of these bars from the chart. I could just grab the handles of the selection and drag them in to exclude a group of data altogether.
