How to Superscript Text in PowerPoint in 60 Seconds

Superscript is the text effect that you'll sometimes see with a small number up above the text. You could use this effect to map out a math equation in PowerPoint or to provide an annotation for a note that you could keep at the bottom of the slide. 

You might only use the superscript feature in a special circumstance, but it's an important feature when you need it.

How to Quickly Superscript Text in PowerPoint

1. Select the Text to Superscript in PowerPoint

Let's say that you want to apply the superscript effect. Here in PowerPoint, start off by typing some text, and then putting the number or text that you want as superscript at the end. 

Type the text out normally to begin with. Now, let's go ahead and highlight the part of the text that we want to apply the effect to.

2. Apply the Superscript Effect

Let's make sure that we are on the Home tab here on PowerPoint's ribbon. Find the font section. Now I'll click this little arrow in the lower right corner.

Use the Font dialog box to apply the superscript effect.

Let's go ahead and click on the Superscript checkbox and click OK. Below, you can see that the highlighted text is now superscripted.

3. Change the Superscript Size

Let's go back to the menu one more time. Now, let's increase the offset percentage and press OK

You can change the size of the superscript text.

When I press OK, you'll see that increasing the Offset percentage tweaks the way that the superscript appears. So, don't forget this option.
