How to Make Business Cards in Photoshop With Templates
You've seen great personal business card templates so far, but how can you make them your own? Customizations are easy! In this section, we'll customize a personal business card template from Envato Elements in Adobe Photoshop.
1. Load the Template
First, you should find a template in the Elements library, such as one of the five personalized business card templates shown in the section above. I'll use the clean and minimal Business Card design and personalize it.

After you download the template, double click the .PSD file to open it in Adobe Photoshop. Make sure that you can see the layers panel so that it's easy to customize in the steps below.
2. Update Your Content
First, let's work on updating the content. This card is packaged in two unique layers: COVER and CONTENT. The cover is the bright, artistic style that you see on the front, while content is the backside of the business card.
Let's start by customizing personal details. Click on the eye icon next to the layer titled COVER to hide it. Now, you'll see a minimal side for your business card details.

Grab the Text tool on the left side of Photoshop and click on the text layers. Type over each of the placeholders to add your contact details.
3. Adjust Style Options
Now that we've added the basics, let's style the front of the card. Click the eye icon next to COVER on the layers panel to toggle it back on.
This layer also has a bit of text. Click in the box and type over it just as we did in the prior step.
Now, we can style the image on the card. Find the layer labeled COVER and click in it. If you wanted to, you could simply drop a new image onto this layer to replace it. But I like the style—but want to customize it a bit.

In my case, I want to tweak the saturation and add a bit of tinting. In my case, I'll use Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Hue and Saturation. This will show you a new slider that you can use to add some color tinting, which is exactly what I did.
The stylistic options are yours to choose. Once you select the COVER layer, just customize it with your images and color scheme.
4. Download and Print
That's it! At the end of your customizations, you're ready to download your personalized business card and take it to your local print shop.
My recommendation is to export your finished business card as a PDF. This is a format that every print shop can handle, so it's ideal to ensure compatibility. Choose File > Save as and select the PDF format.
Then, repeat the same for the other side of your business card by hiding the active layer on the layers panel. This creates two PDF files—one for each side of the personalized business card.
Make sure to use personal business cards from a marketplace like Envato Elements. To learn more about what the most successful professionals include on their personal business card templates, check out the tutorial below:

5 Useful Tips to Make Better Personal Cards and Business Cards in 2024
Are you not impressed by your business card design? Check out these helpful tips for creating personal business cards that stand out.
1. Add Your Logo

Your brand identity should be easy to recognize by all company members. That’s why adding it to any design material you make will be crucial to your brand or business.
A logo is one of the first impressions of your company to the world. Adding a logo to your personal business cards is a must. Remember that a logo doesn’t need to be an icon or graphic symbol. Your name can also be a brand.
Consider adding your logo to an area of your card where it stands out and retains the viewer’s attention.
2. Keep It Simple
Your networking cards should look clean and engaging. There's no need to clutter them with irrelevant information or images. Using a simple design will help your future customers understand the information on the card.
When we say simple, it doesn't mean it should be boring. Choose a design that represents your brand and showcases your information.
3. Add Information That'll Help You Connect

The main goal of a personal business card is to connect with potential customers. Business cards are also essential marketing pieces. It’s almost like handing out promotional flyers in a more intimate, direct, and effective way.
To connect with people and grow your network, add the correct information to your personal business card design. Don't feel overwhelmed if you don't know what to put. We're here to help you. Here's some information you'll want to include:
- logo
- professional information: company name, your name, and job title
- contact information: phone number, email, and address
- list of your social networks.
4. Choose From Two to Three Colors

Colors communicate, so it’s important to choose no more than two to three colors in your personal business card design. Remember that adding too many colors can keep away people from contacting you. That's how important color is.
You can add your logo colors or use complementary colors to fit your brand or business identity.
5. Proofread Your Information Before Printing It Out
Remember to always proofread the information on your business card before printing it. Confirm that your name has no errors, that the phone numbers you've added work, and that the website and social media are correct.

1. Interesting Patterns

Patterns never go out of style. Using them gives an interesting look to your personal business card design. Remember that patterns are all about repetition. We're pretty sure you’ll have several people mesmerized by the design of your card.

2. Colors With Personality

3. Use Different Shapes

Rectangular business cards are usually the standard design. Going outside the norm on this occasion can be beneficial for you. Try working with other shapes, such as circles or squares. This will make your business cards different, but in a good way.
4. Try Gradients

Graphic designers love to use gradients. It's a very popular trend from the last few years that continues to be relevant. Adding a gradient to your business card will give it a fresh and modern look. There are many exciting color combinations you can play with to achieve a beautiful result!
