Note: Watch this short tutorial screencast or follow the quick steps below, that complement this video.
1. Select a Theme From Envato Elements
For presentation themes I always like to use Envato Elements, an all you can download service for creatives with many design elements. All of these templates on Envato Elements are compatible with Google Slides, so you can download any of them to get started with your presentation.
2. Download a PPTX Template for Google Slides
I've gone ahead and downloaded a template. In this case, the Google Slides template, Circles. Now let's open it up and find the .pptx file. You may know this as the PowerPoint file format, but it works with Google Slides too.
All of the themes on Elements in the category we looked at were filtered for Google Slides and work nicely with it.
3. Drag & Drop the Theme to Your Drive
Once you find the PPTX file you can just drag and drop it into your drive to upload it and start working with it in your own presentation.
4. Finishing Up
Now that we've uploaded a theme. You can start designing your presentation just as you normally would with Google Slides, but instead of designing from scratch you've got a great-looking head start with a custom template.
