You can make a poster from a Google Slides template. Just follow some steps to turn a slide into an academic poster:
1. Convert the Template From PowerPoint to Google Slides
When you get your Google Slides template, it'll open as a PowerPoint template. To get your template into Google Slides, you need to go to Google Drive first. Then, click on the +New button in the left top corner of your window.
When you click on the +New button, a menu drops down. From the drop-down menu, click on the File upload option. This brings up a file finder on your computer. Locate the file or the template you want to use and double-click on it.
When you double-click and the file is uploaded, a window pops up in the bottom right corner of your screen. Click on the name of your template. This causes it to open in Google Slides. Next, choose a slide that you’ll think will make the best poster.
When you’re making your poster, you need to set the page size in order for your poster to look like a poster. To change the size of your slide, click on the File button in the menu bar.
When you click on the File button a menu drops down. Click on the Page setup option from the dropdown menu. When you click on the Page setup option, a window pops up. Click Custom to change the size of your poster.
In the Page setup window that pops up there are two fields. The first field is the Width field the second field is the Height field.
Enter the width and height into the boxes. Next, click Apply to save the changes.

3. Choose a Background Color
A huge way to customize your poster is to change the background. This is optional; if you like the background color of your slide, you can keep it. To change the background color, click on the background of the slide, then click on the Fill color button in the toolbar.
When you click on the fill color button, a color menu will dropdown. Click on the color that you want.
5. Print Your Poster
The next important step is printing your poster. Make sure that you've got a printer that can print poster size and that it's got the right paper in the printer. To print, click File in the menu bar.
When you click on File a menu drops down. The last option in the menu is Print. Click on the Print option.
When you click Print, a pop-up window will appear. In this window, click on the Pages field.
A dialog box drops down. Click Custom and enter the slide number of the slide you made your poster of.
When you’re done, click the blue Print button in the bottom right corner of your window.
