How to Quickly Embed a YouTube Video in Keynote
Note: Watch this short tutorial screencast or follow the quick steps below, that complement this video.
1. Download a YouTube Video
Unfortunately, you can't directly add a YouTube video from a URL in Keynote, so you'll need to download it first. I recommend using a site like videograbber.net, as you're seeing me do here, to paste in the YouTube URL and then download the video.
The VideoGrabber tool prompts me to choose a resolution. I'll pick 720p resolution for my example.
2. Embed a YouTube Video in Keynote
Once we've downloaded the video, let's jump over to Keynote and go to the Insert > Choose option. Let's browse to the video that we just downloaded, you'll see the video dropped right into the presentation.
3. Set the Part of YouTube Video You Want to Play
Let's switch to the Movie tab here on the right side with the video selected. Use the Trim options here to set the part of the video that should play. Drag the handles to choose the parts that should play. Next up, you can also drag the second slider to choose a cover for the video.
4. Set Your Presentation Up So the Video Plays Automatically
You can also uncheck the Start movie on click box on the Movie tab so that you don't have to click on the movie to start it. Basically, this sets your presentation up to autoplay the embedded video. When you press the Play button for the presentation, you'll see the video start playing on the slide.
